Cosmetology State Board Exam

The written portion of the Cosmetology Exam consists of 100 questions divided into four general areas:

  • Scientific Concepts
  • Hair Care and Services
  • Skin Care and Services
  • Nail Care and Services

It is critical that you have mastered these four broad categories because you must pass the written part of the exam before you will be able to take the practical part of the exam. Within the four broad categories, the exam tests twenty eight separate subjects.
